Meet Mary

Biography:

Mary's client service model centers around forming an intimate relationship founded in trust with an emphasis on asking the right questions and listening to the answers. Feeling personally invested in her clients' goals, dreams, and future, Mary naturally fills the role of their strategic trusted business advisor.

With over twelve years of experience in accounting at firms ranging from Big 4 to local Chicagoland firms, Mary brought valuable perspective when she joined Mowery & Schoenfeld's Tax Team in November 2017. Mary specializes in helping high net worth individuals navigate the ever changing and increasingly complex issues surrounding strategic tax planning, charitable gifting, and estate and gift tax planning.

When she's not at the office, Mary can be found out to brunch, at the beach, or playing backyard sports with her husband and three daughters. She is also an avid golfer and enjoys cooking, physical fitness, and watching documentaries.

In your own words, what’s different about Mowery & Schoenfeld?

Mowery & Schoenfeld, LLC differs from other accounting firms in that it is a forward thinking firm continually striving to be at the cutting edge of the accounting industry. As thought leaders in the accounting industry offering a broad range of business services, Mowery & Schoenfeld, LLC, has the distinct advantage of offering the greatest value to clients.

What is most rewarding about being an accountant?

I believe we are all given gifts for which we are responsible for bringing forth in this world. The most rewarding thing about being an accountant is using my expertise to shift the burden of understanding and applying complex tax law from the client to myself. Shifting this burden frees up the client to bring his or her special gifts forth, whether in the business or personal realm, thereby making this world a better place to be.

What is your hidden talent?

Buckling a toddler into a carseat with one hand, while in the other hand holding any combination of the following items: coffee, cell phone, purse, diaper bag, mail, groceries, back packs, lunch boxes, sippy cups, and car keys.
